The authors concluded that psychotherapy with antidepressants offered a slight advantage over psychotherapy alone or antidepressants alone. Psychotherapy and antidepressants alone did not differe from each other, or offer any better results than alternative therapies. The researchers concluded that their data suggested that "the type of treatment offered is less important than getting depressed patients involved in an active therapeutic program."
