Recent research out of the Cooper Institute at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and published in the August 27 Archives of Internal Medicine showed that staying fit during middle age is associated with a decreased risk of developing chronic diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and heart disease. As I've mentioned before, there is no downside to becoming more fit and eating well.
