Walnuts and Diabetes

Previous research has shown an association between walnut consumption and lowering the risk for cardiovascular disease. A new study published in the April 2013 edition of the Journal of Nutrition found that consuming walnuts may also help protect women against diabetes. The researchers used data from the very large Nurses Health Study. The benefits from walnuts can be seen in those who ate walnuts two to three times a week. The risk in those of developing type 2 diabetes was 24% lower.
