Slippery Slope Arguments

The May 12 New York Times had a wonderful article on the silliness and fallacy of slippery-slope arguments. Sadly, such sloppy thinking can also be seen on the Supreme Court (if we mandate healthcare coverage, we'll soon mandate that everyone eats broccoli). The times points out that such arguments were used in keeping women from the vote: if we allowed women to vote all our political leaders would soon be women--not necessarily a bad idea, but certainly seen as one back then. Currently only 17% of seats in Congress are held by women.
