The British Medical Journal published a meta-analysis about egg consumption and cardiovascular disease risk. This is an issue because people with cardiovascular disease used to be told to avoid eggs because of the high cholesterol in eggs. This study found that one egg a day did not increase the risk for coronary heart disease or for stroke in non-diabetics. However, there was in increased risk in diabetics, for which the mechanism was not known.
