The March 19, 2013 issue of Science Signaling had a an animal study of prostate cancer that showed that gamma-tocopherol inhibited an enzyme necessary for cancer cells to survive. Vitamin E consists of various tocopherol. Most vitamin E supplements contain mainly alpha-tocopherol, which does not have this anti-cancer effect. In nature gamma and delta tocopherol are abundant, along with alpha. Tocopherols are found in nuts and seeds. If you want to take them in supplement form, then look for "mixed tocopherols" on the label.
