A recent study published in the March 22 edition of Age and Ageing found that in people younger than 70, visceral adiposity, or a big belly, and a high body mass index (BMI) were associated with poor cognitive functioning in older adults. This Korean study found that with advancing age visceral adiposity and BMI mattered less. Other studies have found that visceral fat in middle age can have pooere health outcomes.
