A study published online May 21, 2012 in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that in US women vigorous physical exercise was associated with a reduced risk of psoriasis. As examples of vigorous activity, the researchers listed 105 minutes of running, or 180 minutes of swimming or playing tennis per week. That would be an hour of tennis or swimming three times a week, or 35 minutes of running three times a week. Walking was not associated with a reduced risk of psoriasis. One would think if exposure to UV light, found to be helpful in people with psoriasis, was the reason, then walking would give people the same exposure.
